EDUECE®
The Game Where Expression Leads to Connection

EDUECE's Theory
• EDUECE®’s core features derive from Ekman’s theory of the universality of facial expression and his finding that facial expressions evoke emotional sensations in the autonomic nervous system.

• The literature demonstrates the correlation between communication and emotional problems, and the difficulties that some of the individuals who have atypical development, such as emotional and behavioral disorders, learning disabilities, language impairments, nonverbal learning disabilities, and autism-spectrum related disorders, have with facial expression recognition.

EDUECE® provides an opportunity for those with varying developmental needs to learn important skills in a safe, structured environment.

Additionally, EDUECE® combines facial expression theory with narrative theory, which shows that storytelling/narrative can encourage bonding, positive relationships, open communication, acceptance, encouragement, and intellectual growth.

• Intervention suggestions from researchers and theorists that are designed to improve emotion and communication abilities for those with typical and atypical development support EDUECE®’s rationale.

EDUECE® uses schematic drawings and situation stimulus cards to evoke emotional, facial, and bodily-kinesthetic responses.

EDUECE® is theoretically- and empirically-rooted and seeks to foster social language, cognition, and interpersonal relations.
